Welcome to Ordnance Survey’s Library and Information Centre

The Library and Information Centre offers a wide range of services - including loans, purchasing of new materials, access to external databases and quiet study areas for all staff to use.

We have material on a large number of subject areas including: Geographical Information Systems, surveying, cartography, photogrammetry, IT, marketing, statistics, leisure activities, Ordnance Survey history and personal development to name just a few.

What services do we offer?

  • Books, pamphlets, journals, CDs, language tapes and videos available for loan.
  • Workstations with standard desktop and network connections, so that you can write that important report or complete that study assignment without interruption.
  • A study area, equipped with two workstations, tv/video and a DVD player.
  • Wi-fi access & access to commercial on-line databases.
  • Various reference works on CD-ROM including Encyclopaedia Britannica, Oxford Dictionary, Language Dictionaries and Who’s Who.
  • A range of over 400 journals, which can be consulted within the centre. Each issue is kept on the shelf for 4 weeks after it is received, so that you can come along at regular intervals and guarantee that all the latest issues will be there.  After the initial 4 weeks, any issue can be borrowed on short-term loan.
  • Some journals are now accessible via the Internet. Visit the Electronic Journals page to see what is available.
  • Student textbook service for members of staff who are on an Ordnance Survey sponsored course.
