We believe in reducing our impact on the environment and, like all of our people, you will be actively encouraged to get involved, helping us to further reduce our carbon footprint. How? Well, your ideas are certainly always welcome! Recycling initiatives have led to a 5% increase in what we as an organisation recycle – saving landfill waste and money. By installing combined heating and powers systems, our Environment team has reduced carbon emissions at our Southampton head office by over 25% each year since 2001. An impressive achievement indeed, and one we’re committed to building on.
With a planned relocation to our new offices in 2009, which are approximately 3 miles from our current premises, our new head office will be environmentally sound and sustainable.
We have a number of schemes in place to help reduce our carbon footprint, including:
Travel to workWith more than 105 different car-sharing groups at our Southampton head office, car sharing benefits both the environment and the pocket. If every group car shares on one day this means 91 less cars on the road, not only reducing the impact on the environment but dreaded traffic jams as well.
If you want to cycle to work, we have a secure bike shed, showers, changing facilities and lockers; you will also be entitled to discounts at some local cycle retailers. For those of you who prefer to relax and let someone else do the driving, we offer 10% discount on all tickets for First Group and Solent Blue Line.
