Ordnance Survey – Great Britain's national mapping agency

Our culture

coffee break So what is it really like to work at Ordnance Survey? What can you expect from us and what do we expect from you? The first thing to say is that there’s a collective sense of pride here: we are all committed to what we do and to driving Ordnance Survey forwards.

We are friendly and mutually supportive. We treat each other with courtesy and respect at all times. And whilst we have been known to have the occasional disagreement, that’s often because we’re so passionate about our work! When this does happen we work together to find a resolution that we can all get behind and make happen.

You’ll also have every opportunity to express yourself here at Ordnance Survey. We hold regular ‘speakeasy’ sessions, attended by our Chief Executive and Directors. The sessions are an opportunity to hear first-hand what the Board is working on and what issues it is focusing on. Beyond that, they offer you the chance to air your views, probe away and ask any questions you may have.

You will also be able to comment, via our annual Employee Opinion Surveys, on what you think about the way the organisation is run, how it’s developing and what changes you think should be made. And they’re not just a ‘talking shop’ either; as a result of the most recent survey – last year – we have agreed actions that each of us will do to improve internal communication, ensuring that we share work and information more efficiently.
