Speaking of which, St Mary’s Stadium, home of Southampton Football Club, is a mere 10-minute walk from the city centre. What’s more, you can work here and go anywhere – literally. Southampton is just over an hour from London by train and enjoys excellent ferry, rail, road and air links.

Step a little further outside of the city and you’ll discover Hampshire’s fine countryside, with the New Forest and its c375.6 km² (c145 square miles) of heath and woodland on our doorstep. To the west you’ll find the vibrant cosmopolitan town of Bournemouth with its seven miles of golden sands and water sports galore, a vast variety of shops and restaurants, and buzzing nightlife. To the east is Portsmouth, the UK's premier waterfront destination, and north is Winchester, packed with historic buildings, museums, family attractions and tranquil green spaces.
