Ordnance Survey has always been dedicated to accuracy and consistency in the map-making process. In the mapping agency's early days when maps were painstakingly hand drawn, draftsmen, field examiners and plan examiners were given strict guidelines for quality assurance.
Even today, when maps are updated and created digitally, our surveyors still work to guidelines that ensure our maps are of the highest accuracy. You can view two documents below, dating from 1905 and 1906.
