Free desktop wallpaper images for June are now available for download. Available in all of the most popular screen sizes used by website visitors and incorporating a calendar for the month, they feature this month a view of Windy Gyle, one of the summits in the Cheviot Hills in Northumberland. The border between England and Scotland actually runs right across its summit, as does the 267-mile Pennine Way trail path.
The Cheviots are perhaps one of the lesser known hill ranges in Britain, yet well worth exploring. The mainline railway station nearest to Upper Coquetdale, where this photo was taken by Andrew Bennett, is at Alnwick, about 20 miles to the east. The A1 between Newcastle upon Tyne and Edinburgh also passes close to it.
While you download a wallpaper for your computer, why not also find out which maps, guides and related products from our leisure map shop cover the area and take a look at some of the explore portal routes that have been plotted by enthusiasts?
If you have a photo of the great outdoors that you’d like us to consider using as our website wallpaper of the month, feel free to send it in.
