Flying high with Countryfile

Hello again! The election is over and we can get the blog up and running again – its great to be back.

Back in October I went up to Blackpool with the BBC to film an episode of Countryfile on how maps are made and why they’re important to life beyond walking and hiking. But why Blackpool I hear you ask? Good question! It’s where our aircraft unit is based so it can reach anywhere from the northern outcrops of the Shetlands to the southern tips of the Scilly Isles. You see, our two planes spend nine months of the year capturing very high resolution imagery (about 12 times better than my little 10 mega pixel camera) of the country. Anyway, you can find out exactly why that’s so important by watching the team in action. Chocks away! Ahem…
