GNSS base station network
OS Net is our highly accurate and resilient network of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) base stations covering Great Britain.
It provides access to a stable, national coordinate reference system (through downloaded GNSS data) and enables Real-time Kinematic (RTK) positioning services, offered by our partners, which are ideal for surveying, construction and precision agricultural applications.
OS Net can deliver efficiencies within a variety of market sectors.
Agriculture – when used for the precise positioning of farm machinery, OS Net increases efficiencies and optimises yields throughout the complete crop cycle of planting, spraying, harvesting and cultivation. For example, you can plan and manage seed sowing more precisely , creating less waste and reducing costs. It also allows drivers to continue to work with reliably and accuracy in low light conditions.
Construction - OS Net is used for machine control on construction sites. This creates efficiencies by increasing the accuracy of the work, cutting fuel use, reducing operator error and requiring less skilled staff.
Surveying - Land monitoring, building and setting out are amongst the many types of surveying that OS Net is used for. With faster initialisation and without the need for a base station and another pair of hands, you are able to save time and money and complete more jobs during the working day.
Accurate asset management - Companies in the energy and infrastructure sector use OS Net to map their buried services precisely, saving time in relocation and enabling repairs to be carried out quickly and efficiently. The data can be available to all users using a common coordinate reference system.
OS Net raw data is available free of charge for post-processed positioning.
