OS VectorMap Local is the most detailed of an emerging family of backdrop map data products. It has been designed to enable the selection and styling of map data features to achieve the best geographic context for your application.

Alternatively, for efficient implementation, a ready-to-use pre-defined raster version of the product is also available. As a highly versatile product, it can be styled in the appropriate way to support a multitude of different geographic applications.

The product includes representations of real-world objects.

These objects include:

  • buildings
  • roads
  • railways
  • hydrology and land areas.

OS VectorMap Local also includes non-topographic features such as administrative and electoral boundaries, cartographic text and symbols.

What format is this available in?

5km x 5km tiles in simple vector GML or raster format covering the whole of Great Britain

The conveniently pre-styled Raster versions of the product include:

  • Backdrop Colour Raster
