Distributor Framework Agreement

Commercial partners may distribute (resell) certain digital map data products from Ordnance Survey under the terms of the Distributor Framework Agreement (DFA) for Ordnance Survey data.

This defines the overarching terms and conditions of the commercial relationship between the commercial partner and Ordnance Survey, and the obligations placed on the partner.

The DFA is an open-ended licence available for periods of one, two or three years, and may be renewed or extended as required.

Data distributed under the DFA is offered to the End User on Standard Licensed Use terms.

The DFA entitles the partner to:

  • be supplied with the data, and receive updates according to the maintenance regime for each product;
  • hold the data within a computer system and to make security copies of it;
  • supply copies of all or part of the data to end users; and
  • licence the data supplied to end users for renewable periods of one year under Standard Licensed Use terms.

A Data Distribution Agreement (DDA) is implemented for each Data product distributed. It defines product-specific terms and conditions for each Ordnance Survey data product that is being distributed.  It will also define the royalty rates and merchant margins applicable to each dataset.

In most cases the distributor may hold the data products against royalties earned from the licensing of them.  However minimum annual royalty values will apply to each DDA.
