Ordnance Survey – Great Britain's national mapping agency
Seven Local Authority and Emergency Services spring seminars were held throughout June and July, with over 650 registered delegates taking advantage of this opportunity to find out more about the recently signed Mapping Services Agreement (MSA). Other topics discussed included new products, OS MasterMap® development and the National Spatial Address Infrastructure (NSAI). See the agenda (pdf. 86kB) for full details of the topics covered.
This year invitations were extended to emergency planners, and over 100 attended the afternoon session focusing on the use of OS MasterMap® Imagery Layer and Points of Interest data in emergency planning. This workshop-style session offered delegates the chance to discuss the issues that prevent them using geographic intelligence in their roles as well as discovering how to make best use of the mapping available to them.
Local account managers were on hand throughout the day to discuss any individual issues or concerns, while representatives from Ordnance Survey's cartography department attended the London and Bristol events to demonstrate how displaying map data in different ways can improve the speed and ease of interpretation.
Abridged versions of the seminar presentations are available below and give an overview of the topics discussed. If you were unable to attend a seminar and would like to find out more, contact your Account Manager or email Ian Carter.
