Ordnance Survey – Great Britain's national mapping agency
Effective policy and planning is dependent on the ability to analyse disparate sets of information. It is vital that the thousands of datasets available from government departments and third party organisations can be effectively 'joined-up' to provide a framework for the delivery of e-government. More than 80% of information held by government has a geographic context. Therefore integrated databases with a location context can provide faster data analysis and ultimately cost saving and increased efficiency. Over 200 government departments, agencies and regional offices are now accessing Ordnance Survey's most detailed and up-to-date digital mapping and using it for better decision making and policy development.
