AEGIS 3

AEGIS 3 is an educational GIS (geographical information system) that is organised as an interactive worksheet with maps, data tables, text and pictures with notes. There are a number of sample worksheets included in the AEGIS 3 package:

  • Fieldwork examples: local, urban and rural fieldwork from Year 7 to GCSE.
  • EU data and worksheets on Italy, France and UK.
  • World development data and worksheets.
  • India census 2000.
  •  Environment and landscape exercise with pictures and notes on the Studland peninsula.

As well as Ordnance Survey large-scale digital map data, AEGIS 3 accepts aerial photographs, ESRI Shapefiles.  You can add fieldwork data, digital photos and GPS data to Ordnance Survey digital maps and other maps.  An additional module enables Goad Digital Town Plans and highly compressed ECW images to be imported.

Additional modules for AEGIS 3: OSMasterMap Module; Goad and ECW Module; AEGIS Recorder Module. The cost of each additional AEGIS module is from £50.

To help you get to grips with AEGIS 3, try the Tutorial Disk, or visit the Advisory Unit’s web site for training course dates.
AEGIS 3 is principally aimed at secondary schools, but watch out for some primary worksheets in the future!
