PhD Research Programme

Ordnance Survey has supported a number of successful PhD studentships over recent years. Ordnance Survey acts as an industrial partner directing the student's research to align it with real world problems and business requirements. Ordnance Survey part funds the PhD along with a research council, such as EPRSC, ERSC and NERC.

We are currently supporting 13 PhD's covering a number of topics such as Ontologies & Semantic Translation, 3D Moddelling, Generalisation and Remote Sensing and LiDAR.

Ordnance Survey gains a great deal from sponsoring long term PhD research as it allows for the development of blue skies ideas, as well as business focused research deliverables.
