Today's Daily Mail has an article 'Sat-navved to a 100ft cliff (see attached) which has also been picked up by Radio Solent and Radio 1.
The complaint is of traffic being routed from Swaledale to Wensleydale via Crackpot and Summer Lodge

Ordnance Survey can confirm that OS Mastermap ITN data set shows a minor road from Crackpot south to Summer Lodge, south of Summer Lodge the road is gated and classified private restricted. ITN has mnay attributes that Sat Nav providers can make use of if they choose.

This is based on information originally collected for OSCAR in 2001. Using transportdirect.info for a route from Crackpot south to Newbiggin confirms that the road south of Crackpot is not used for routing.

If you know of any more disputed roads were happy to investigate and reply via this forum. Many thanks!

Gavin
