In December 2010, we began moving into a new, purpose-built head office on the outskirts of Southampton.

Why we are moving

We needed to move because our old premises, situated a mile away on Romsey Road, were no longer suited to our needs. They had been built to accommodate up to 5 000 staff in the days when map creation and production was far more labour-intensive. We now employ Read more »


Our new office

The new three-storey building has been designed to be energy efficient and have a low environmental impact with naturally ventilated offices with computer controlled windows; an extensive ground-source heat-pump system to cool and heat the building, a rainwater harvesting system and a computerised lighting system to reduce electricity consumption. Our new Business Centre

The Lecture Theatre will be capable of seating 150 people, with a widescreen projection and AV set-up. The seating in here is flexible and can be arranged for group working or lecture style.

How to get to our office

Interesting facts and figures

Total size of the site is 15.7 acres 

Total office space is 10 000 sq metres 

There are 95 000 bricks in the acoustic wall 

The building has been awarded BREEAM 2006 excellent, making it one of the most energy efficient developments in the country. 

The development has the largest ground source heat pump system in the country consisting of nearly 100 boreholes over 90 metres deep. 

The rainwater harvesting system collects and recycles rainwater which is held in a 100 000 litre underground tank. The recycled water is used to flush toilets and irrigate the site. 

Up to 1 000 staff will be working in the head office at any one time. 

Up to 200 people worked on the development of the building at any one time. 

The building has 150 lockers and 11 showers for staff who walk, run or cycle to work.
