Interpretation of banner advertising

Would you provide a detailed description of the Ordnance Surveys' interpretation of the term 'Banner Advertising'.

Ordnance Survey does not have a definition for what we term as banner advertising.  We look at each example on a case by case basis to determine whether or not we deem the website to be within the terms of the collective agreement (in this case the MSA) and if not would ask the end-user to amend their website according or purchase one of our commercial licences to cover the activity’.

Please note that your enquiry has been processed to Freedom of Information guidelines.  As all requested information has been provided, we have determined that in all the circumstances of this case the Public interest consideration (section 17 FOIA) is not applicable in this instance.
