I have been asked to find out an approximate figure of how many address updates there are on a yearly basis on the Address Point gazetteer. This only needs to be in approximate percentage terms of the total number of records.
Thank you for your e-mail dated 26th March 2010. We are pleased to provide you with the following information with regard to your request:
Ordnance Survey contains a database of approximatley 27 million postal addresses which is being constantly updated with monthly updates from the Royal Mail Postcode Address File (PAF®). During the period March 2009 to February 2010 Ordnance Survey recieved 487,449 updates from Royal Mail which equates to 1.8% of the total number of addresses held in ADDRESS-POINT®
