Confirmation of measurements and pre 1934 map

Please can Ordnance Survey confirm the measurements I have taken at my property xxxxxx, and advise where I can get hold of a pre 1934 map of my property.

Thank you for your letter (un-dated), received by Ordnance Survey on the 19th August 2010, asking us to confirm the measurements you have taken at your property xxxxxx.

I regret to inform you that Ordnance Survey is unable to help you with your enquiry as we do not hold this information.

From our discussion by telephone on Friday 20th August 2010, I understand the issue you have is in relation to your boundary. Ordnance Survey mapping does not depict legal property boundaries nor do we attempt to show property ownership on our mapping. We only show the existence of physical features on the ground at the time of survey, which are surveyed to Ordnance Survey specifications and published accuracy standards.

It is Land Registry’s role to show the extent of the land in a registered title by a red line on the title plan.  A legal boundary deals with the precise separation of ownership of land. The exact positions of the legal boundaries are not shown on Ordnance Survey maps.

Land Registry and Ordnance Survey work in very close partnership with each other. By using Ordnance Survey mapping, this allows Land Registry to cross-reference and associate their boundary information. Therefore, it is possible that Land Registry will be able to assist you further with your request, and we suggest you may like to contact your local Land Registry Office as follows:
