Thank you for your e-mail dated 14th March 2011. We are pleased to provide you with the following information with regard to your request, and respond to each of your questions in turn:
1.Ordnance Survey employs approximatley 185 staff in the area classed as IT functions.
2.Our Information Technology team is internal.

4. Our Information Technology Infrastructure in internally managed.

10. There are 1,200 desktop computers in use.
11. There are 600 Laptop Computers in use.
12. We use: Solaris, Digital Unix, Red Hat and Centros. We use Windows 2003 and 2008. We are unsure what you are referring to by the term System I, but we have no plaform in use which would be referred to or called System I.
13. We have 450 physical servers in use.
14. We have 230 virtual servers in use.
