10. How many Desktop Computers are in use?
11. How many Laptop Computers are in use?
12. Which Server Platform(s) do you use: IBM/PCM Mainframe: (Please state which Operating System(s) – e.g. z/OS, z/VM, z/VSE), UNIX: (Please state which Operating System(s) – e.g. Sun Solaris, AIX etc.), Microsoft Windows: (Please state which Operating System(s) – 2003, 2008 etc)? Thank you for your e-mail dated 14^th March 2011. We are pleased to provide you with the following information with regard to your request, and respond to each of your questions in turn:

1.Ordnance Survey employs approximatley 185 staff in the area classed as IT functions.
2.Our Information Technology team is internal.
3. N/A
4. Our Information Technology Infrastructure in internally managed.

6. Our desk top computers are internally managed.
7. N/A
8. Our Systems Development/Applications Management is internally managed.
9. N/A
10. There are 1,200 desktop computers in use.
11. There are 600 Laptop Computers in use.
12. We use: Solaris, Digital Unix, Red Hat and Centros. We use Windows 2003 and 2008. We are unsure what you are referring to by the term System I, but we have no plaform in use which would be referred to or called System I.
13. We have 450 physical servers in use.
14. We have 230 virtual servers in use.

Your enquiry has been processed according to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000. As all requested information has been provided, we have determined that in all the circumstances of this case the Public interest consideration (section 17 FOIA) is not applicable in this instance.
