Under the terms of the Specific Use Framework Partner Licence, Licence Partners may only create and licence Value Added products and services for use within defined Specific Uses, under rights that are constrained to that Specific Use.
Ordnance Survey has defined a number of Specific Uses in response to demand from partners. Ordnance Survey will consider defining other Specific Uses as market needs require.
Currently there are Specific Use Contracts (SUCs) available for:
An internet service which enables the tracking of objects or assets, utilising location-finding devices. The service excludes the ability to provide routing or scheduling.
An internet service utilising licensed data to provide facilities for registered users to share cars with other registered users.
Software products incorporating licensed data which permit an end-user to provide facilities to its members to share cars to travel to and/or from the end-users premises.
The provision of services to consumers, utilising licensed data via a website, allowing consumers to interact with the data through map, route and enquiry transactions.
Facilities incorporating licensed data to manage the routing, scheduling and tracking of vehicles owned/operated by the end-user only.
A dataset created by a Partner for an end-user’s standard licensed use.
An online service utilising licensed data to allow consumers and/or end-users to search and identify an extent of land.
The provision of geographic information services to mobile devices by means of map, route and enquiry transactions where the initial location of the mobile device is known to the service provider.
A software or on-demand service provided by a partner to enable users to select a destination and receive step-by-step instructions on how to get to that destination based on their current geographical position.
A software product containing licensed data, enabling consumers to interact with licensed data. Such use shall exclude navigation products.
A service to provide exports of Ordnance Survey data for use in conjunction with specific project-based activities such as building construction, management and the disposal of land
The use of licensed data in any form of published material. For example books, guides and so on.
Allows the licensing of data for incorporation into a location-specific report. For example; valuation, environmental and insurance reports.
A dataset created by a Partner, using or which contains OS MasterMap® Topography Layer Hydrology Theme but no other Ordnance Survey data.
A software product which enables end-users to access and interact with licensed data within the facilities of the software to assist with:
A partner - created dataset that utilises Ordnance Survey data in part only. The derived data may be in the form of points, polygons or height grids.
A service whereby users are given the facility to View a particular geographic area/site on a computer (View), print an image of the same (Plot); or In addition to the above, export an image of the geographic area/site selected by a user (Export), for their internal business use.
The provision of a web based service that enables users to view licensed data leading to the data being licensed under the terms of a separate agreement.
The provision of a service through a partner’s website whereby developers can access and use the partner’s API (application programming interface) and/or the Open Space API for the purpose of creating web applications for delivery to end-users.
