Career opportunities in finance
Our Finance department provides financial, commercial, project management, planning and internal risk management leadership to the business.
In addition, we support our business strategy by providing accurate financial forecasting and reporting, timely collection of payment of invoices and management of our costs and working capital.
We also maintain a corporate planning process to deliver a consistent view of strategies, goals and targets in order to maximise the effectiveness of our investment programme.
We support the business to deliver its targets by leading business change, managing the effective delivery of investment projects and ensuring best value is achieved through effective procurement and internal risk management across the whole business.
Senior/Credit controllers manages our credit risk and debts using credit limits and debt-collection procedures whilst ensuring accurate processing of customer financial data to maximise cash flow. They use their knowledge and understanding of financial processes, systems and standards to advise account managers and sales staff on how to improve transactional processing and produce early settlement. All of our credit controllers are strong communicators who enjoy working with others, solving problems, and achieving results. They hold or are working towards a credit management qualification.
Senior auditor/auditors provide our business with evidence-based opinion on the strength of our risk management, governance and control strategies. They have well developed investigative, data analysis and interpretation skills together with a good track record of fulfilling audit terms of reference. By building good relationships around the business, they are able to influence and advise management on how to minimise risk and achieve corporate objectives. All of our auditors hold or are working towards recognised audit qualifications.
In addition to the above, our senior auditors hold a recognised project management qualification. Our senior IT security auditors have good knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies and IT security policy standards and practice.
Financial analysts advise and influence our business managers to improve planning, resourcing and budgeting activity to meet financial targets. Together with well-developed communication and presentation skills, they have a track record of enabling change and achieving results by working with [internal] customers. They all understand and apply accounting or systems knowledge, or have completed CIMA® Strategic Level/ACA® Advanced Level Modules.
Project managers have a track record of successfully working through others to deliver a number of well-defined business change projects. They understand and apply project management methodology, tools and techniques, and have great communication skills. Some of our project managers hold or are working towards a recognised project management qualification.
Procurement Manager secures best value contracts for our business. They evaluate commercial offers and negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value contracts for us. They evaluate business spend and supply chains to identify opportunities for increased business benefit as well as analyse the supplier base and markets to ensure the right suppliers are identified to meet our needs. They are CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply) qualified with a strong commercial focus and well-honed analytical and influencing skills.
