Career opportunities in human resources
Human Resources (HR) and Organisational Development (OD) support our managers to get the right people with the right skills to meet the needs of a leading technology business.
In HR we work in partnership with our managers and their teams to understand the issues they face, give advice and support, and propose tailored solutions based on their needs.
We play a key role in supporting our managers to recruit, lead, develop and motivate a highly skilled workforce that can quickly respond to changes in our business environment. We ensure that we comply with employment legislation whilst applying best management practices that give all our people the opportunity to reach their full potential.
In OD we provide a number of learning and development resources to enable people to be effective within their current role and prepare themselves for future roles. These include a wide range of training courses, coaching and personal development activities.
In Internal Communications we provide a communications consultancy service on effective business-focused communications. We work with a network of proactive communicators across Ordnance Survey to ensure consistent communication of our corporate brand within the organisation.
Our HR advisers hold either a CIPD qualification or have equivalent relevant experience. They work with managers and help them deal with their teams’ issues to achieve sound business-focused outcomes. They have well developed communication and customer skills and knowledge of employment law, our Staff handbook and HR systems. They confidently analyse management information and provide reports to inform the HR Strategy.
HR administrators work together as a team to provide the business with administrative support for HR processes and technical assistance with HR systems. They all have a proven track record in administration, good communication and customer-care skills and are great at juggling their time to meet their deadlines. Some of them also have an NVQ in Business Administration Level 2.
OD consultants inform and influence managers about appropriate business change and development solutions that deliver required business outcomes. As well as a master's degree in occupational psychology, organisational behaviour (or equivalent) they have a track record in delivering complex organisational change, and keep uptodate with the latest thinking and practice on business and personal change. They have great problem-solving skills along with excellent consultancy skills and the ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels.
Internal communications specialists ensure that all our communication campaigns support the delivery of our corporate goals. Through their network of communicators around our business, they share best practice to ensure their messages are understood. They have excellent written communication skills and have a very good knowledge of Ordnance Survey and our corporate agenda. They have good relationships across the business and work collaboratively with people at all levels.
