Career opportunities in sales and marketing

Our customer service, sales, and marketing communications teams are the key interface between us, and our customers and our partners – an ever-growing number of businesses  that develop products and services based on our geographic information to deliver creative solutions to customers in all markets.

Geographic information has the power to add significant value to organisations and enhance people’s lives, but many customers haven’t discovered the possibilities. Using creative ideas developed with Products Group, our teams promote and demonstrate how innovative use of our data could be of real benefit to them and their business, then help ensure these benefits are realised.

We have a first-rate sales team working within three core markets. Everyone in the team thrives on challenges and solving problems, has well developed communication and influencing skills and enjoys being part of the team.

Account managers report to either a head of sales or a sector manager. Account managers in our commercial markets and public sector teams deliver revenue by licensing our data to potential and existing customers and partners; businesses that span a broad variety of sectors, including finance, insurance, navigation, land and property as well as local and central government. They continually look for ways to improve the service our customers and partners receive from us so that we remain their ‘supplier of choice’.

In our Consumer sales team, account managers deliver revenue through the effective distribution of paper and digital products through third-party retailers/wholesalers, and through our own website.

Marketing Managers

Our marketing managers work with sector sales managers and product managers to develop and agree the most effective marketing strategies for our various markets. They then manage the delivery of the required marketing and related communications plans – including online marketing – to help maximise revenue opportunities for our paper and data products.

They have excellent knowledge of the marketing communications mix and good brand management skills. They have a track record of managing successful campaigns and, of course, excellent communication skills. Some hold the CIM Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing, CIPR or IDM or similar.

Sector managers develop and manage the strategic and tactical business development of their market sector to maximise revenue opportunities. Some of our sector managers also manage and develop teams of account managers.

Some of our sector and account managers work out of our head office in Southampton, whilst others are based in locations around the country –either working out of their home or from one of our small field offices.

P&PSS – GI Consultant report to a principal consultant. Our consultants provide technical advice and support to products and sales teams internally, as well as to our customers and partners, to ensure they understand how to make the most effective use of the data they are licensing from us, and how they can realise the benefits of it to their business. Our P&PSS consultants have expert knowledge of GI and how it’s used in our products, along with great communication and problem-solving skills.

P&PSS – Developer use their in-depth knowledge of our data. Developers devise technical solutions for our products and sales teams and for our customers and partners. This helps maximise use and ensure value is being obtained by our customers from using our data products, as well as their continued use and licensing of them. Our GI Developers have a very good working knowledge of GIS toolset and a track record in coding and software development. They are great at solving problems, for juggling their time to meet as many needs as possible, and for delivering amazing technical solutions.
