Ordnance Survey – Great Britain's national mapping agency
We asked school children to imagine how Great Britain could look in the year 2050. And – taking in to account the environment, seasons, transport, nature, weather and anything else they could think of – they came up with some stunning designs.
The competition drew a huge response from children across Britain – with more than 5 200 entries. Children, between 7 and 15 years, painted, sketched, coloured, glued collages – from recycled scraps of material and paper – and even made models. We’ve been bowled over by the talent, hard work and detail they’ve put into their illustrations. We applaud them all.
Judges from our Education, and Corporate Design and Publishing teams were also amazed with the effort and talent that shone through in the designs. They found it very difficult to pick our finalists but, after much thought, decided that the overall winner was Josie Barlow.
We offer a big thank-you to everybody who entered.
