Developer's information

OSGM02TM and the OSTN02TM and OSi/OSNI Polynomial transformation models are also available to software developers for incorporation into third party software. An increasing number of popular software packages will include these transformations, which can be recognised by the Ordnance Survey logo with the text 'OSTN02, OSGM02 and OSi/OSNI Polynomial enabled'.

The models can be incorporated in two ways:

  • Ordnance Survey produces a dataset which includes the grid of transformation parameters, the procedures/equations to use, a worked through example and some sample files for testing. A style guide and technical information are also included. Download a zip file (14.5 MB).

  • A Windows® (98/NT/2000/XP) dynamic link library (DLL) of the transformation, which can be incorporated directly into software, can be requested from here.

The DLL is non-royalty based -- that is, you can use it in as many applications you develop in your company, and sell it to as many people you like, as long as it's part of an application you've developed. The DLL cannot be distributed on its own as part of a development suite.

This software has been developed for Ordnance Survey by Quest Geo Solutions Ltd, an Ordnance Survey Licensed System supplier. See www.qgsl.com.
