Navigation Contract Overview

This Overview highlights some of the key points from the contract; please refer to the Contract for full terms and conditions.  Please contact our Customer Service Centre for further information.

This contract covers electronic products and/or services in the form of a software package or an on demand service that enables users to select a route and reach their destination by receiving automatically updated step-by-step instructions based on their navigation devices position and movement throughout the journey.

Conditions of use
  • The end-users position in their vehicle can only be used for the purpose of navigating. It cannot be used as a tracking service.
  • Partners are not permitted to digitise any features from 1:25 000 Scale Colour Raster and 1:50 000 Scale Colour Raster.
  • Partners must ensure that licensed data contained within the product cannot be extracted except to the extent necessary to install software packages or caching or downloading in the case of the on demand service.
  • Partners must ensure that licensed data is inaccessible to the customer on expiry of their subscription period or session.
  • For on demand services the Partner must ensure that all licensed data is inaccessible to the customer on expiry of its subscription period or session.
Pricing structure

There are three (3) royalty models available:

1  Perpetual

There are two ‘Perpetual’ royalty models applicable to Navigation software packages:

Model A – a royalty is payable every time the licensed data is updated.

Model B – enables licensed data to be updated without payment of additional royalties until such time as the Partner’s Contract terminates. If Address products are included, only Model A may be applied.

2  Session

A session royalty covers on demand services whereupon customers may receive updates of licensed data (you can update the data during a session without incurring further royalties) but may not store licensed data locally (except for caching).

Caching means the automatic, immediate download and temporary storage of data.

3  Subscription

A subscription royalty covers on demand services whereupon customers can receive updates of licensed data on an annual, monthly, weekly or on a lifetime basis. Partners are able to implement updates to the lifetime subscription without payment of additional royalties.
