Motorists across Britain are confidently heading in the right direction with new editions of Ordnance Survey's OS Travel Map – Road series to hand. Featuring clear, updated road mapping for the whole of the country and improved motoring symbols, the new Road map editions are the perfect travelling companion for motorists to help keep them on the move.

The popular Ordnance Survey Road maps feature many additions, including new symbols for features such as restricted multilevel junctions. Road depiction has also been improved, including clearer destination names and wider primary roads and motorways, helping motorists to find the right route at a glance. Height detail – including relief shading and contours – guides motorists who are towing caravans or transporting heavy loads. A table showing distances between major towns makes it easy to plan the length and duration of a journey.

"Following feedback from our customers, we have made our Road maps even more user–friendly," says Nicki Cockshaw, Ordnance Survey Brand Manager. "Motorists can plan their journey before they even leave the house, as the region they want is laid out in front of them on just one sheet. By keeping their map handy in the car once they set off, it's easy to correct a wrong turning or find an alternative route if there's a traffic jam or unexpected roadworks."

Each one of the eight Road maps in the series has an eye–catching cover, featuring an attractive photograph of a bridge in the region. The eight titles are:

  1. Northern Scotland, Orkney and Shetland
  2. Western Scotland and the Western Isles
  3. Southern Scotland and Northumberland
  4. Northern England
  5. East Midlands and East Anglia, including London
  6. Wales / Cymru and West Midlands
  7. South West England and South Wales
  8. South East England, including London

The maps will continue to retail at £3.99 through independent and high street shops, and via Ordnance Survey's online leisure map shop at http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/leisure.
