Specialists in geographic data from across Europe are meeting in Cardiff this week to discuss its applied research programme.
EuroSDR - European Spatial Data Research – is a network of national mapping and cadastre agencies; leading universities; and research institutes engaged on the common goal of exploring the future needs of geoinformation at national and European levels. The EuroSDR Science Committee conference is being hosted by Britain’s national mapping agency, Ordnance Survey, in Cardiff from 15 - 17 October.
Antonio Arozarena Villar – President of EuroSDR and Subdirector General Adjunto Producción Cartográfica of Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN), Madrid – will give the opening address. Amongst the speakers will be Ordnance Survey’s Director General and Chief Executive, Vanessa Lawrence, who will report on current activities and initiatives at the mapping agency. There will also be an update on Spatial Data Infrastructure developments in the United Kingdom from DEFRA’s Keith Murray and a UK industry view from AGI’s chairman Rob Walker.
