Ordnance Survey has celebrated the topping out of its new head office at Adanac Park today.

Vanessa Lawrence CB, Director General and Chief Executive received a commemorative trowel on the completion of the external structure and helped place the finishing touches to the roof alongside representatives from developer Kier.

Despite the snow and extreme weather conditions of recent weeks, the building is still on schedule with staff due to move into the building in November 2010. The building which is visible from the M271 has grown over the last ten months and the external construction for the main building housing up to 1,000 staff is now complete. Further developments of ancillary buildings and a nursery are still in progress.

Vanessa Lawrence said:

“I am looking forward to moving into Ordnance Survey’s new home and seeing our staff settle in and enjoy their new working environment. I know everyone will enjoy working in the modern and dynamic building – one fitting Ordnance Survey’s innovative and world-class business.”

Kier Southern Director Shane Mason added:

“Kier Southern is proud to design and construct such a prestigious building in Southampton, and the ceremony today marks a huge milestone in what has been both a challenging and rewarding project for the whole team.
