Ordnance Survey welcomes new Director of Finance and Corporate Services

Ordnance Survey, the national mapping agency for Great Britain, is delighted to announce the appointment of a new Director of Finance and Corporate Services, Ian Nunn.

Ian brings a wealth of experience to the role of Director of Finance and Corporate Services, joining Ordnance Survey from the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), where, after initially managing a project engaging with UK ports of entry, he was invited by the Government to set up a new company which aims to ensure a post Games  legacy for community sport. Join in Local Sport events took place throughout the UK in August and the project is set to continue in 2013 and beyond. Ian will continue as a Non-Executive member of the Board of the Join in Trust. Prior to his role with the Olympics, Ian was for 10 years Finance Director at Eurostar International and he is currently the Non-Executive Chairman of the Football Association’s Group Audit Committee.

Ordnance Survey’s Director General and Chief Executive Vanessa Lawrence CB, said: “We are delighted with Ian’s appointment.  His experience will be highly relevant to Ordnance Survey as we continue to realise our plans for the organisation. Ian is an excellent addition to our team and we are pleased to have him on board.”

Ian started his career in corporate finance after graduating from Durham University. He is fluent in French, is a keen sportsman and has an interest in current affairs.

Ian added: “I feel privileged to be joining Ordnance Survey and to be part of the management team at an exciting time in the organisation’s development. Ordnance Survey plays a vital role in providing world-class geographic data which business, government and individuals rely on every day.

“I look forward to working with my new colleagues to ensure we sustain our investment in people, data and technology for the benefit of our customers and the nation.”

Ian replaces Ordnance Survey’s former Director of Finance and Corporate Services, Paul Hemsley, who has held the post on an interim basis for three years. Ian joined Ordnance Survey on 5 November 2012.
