Frequently Asked Questions

Please also refer to our Technical Information page for further details.

Can the data be compressed?

The data is compressed and it is possible to decompress it further when exporting it, but some degradation is likely.

Why is Ordnance Survey selling software?

We are not selling software. The Pictometry dataset comes packaged with the ability to view and measure.  This could be construed as software. Ordnance Survey is however acting as an intermediary, it is not our data nor is it software with which we are actively involved.  Pictometry can work with/in other GIS’s so in effect we are true to our business objective of being vendor neutral.

Can we extract data and can we add data?

Yes, the EFS tools enable you to extract data in the following formats:

DIB – Windows Device Independent Bitmap

JFIF – JPEG File Image Format

PMI – Pictometry Map Image

TIFF – Tagged Image File Format

Use of own GIS with Pictometry would allow the addition of customer data.

Does the price differ according to the number of terminals we use the data on?

No, the published price is the only price per library.

If there are software updates to EFS will they be made available free to customers?

Yes, BLOM Aerofilms Ltd will arrange this automatically.

The area we are interested in is not available, can you capture upon request?

Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
