How to Buy

This information focuses on ordering data for use in a geographical information system (GIS).

Licensing data directly from us

Ordnance Survey Data Products

If you are already registered to order data through our online ordering service and would like to place an order for further data please log-in here.

You can request a price from us prior to placing an order for products you wish to licence.

If the quotation is satisfactory, you may order data through our Pricing and Ordering page.

When placing your first order you will need to complete and return the following  forms which are available from our Pricing and ordering page:

  • the Framework Contract (Direct Customers), which is our umbrella agreement under which a number of products can be licensed; and
  • a Credit application form.

You will also need to agree to our data contract terms; in the case of our our online ordering service these form part of the online order process and are created when we send you your online order confirmation.  For products not available through our online ordering service you will need to complete and return the following form in addition to the Framework Contract (Direct Customers) and Credit application form:

  • Order form and Data Contract - for your chosen product(s).

Once your order has been processed, we will deliver your data either on a CD or DVD (depending on the size of data files). Or depending on the product ordered you may be able to download it directly to your computer. 

You may also wish to consider having your data supplied online using OS OnDemand, which delivers our mapping over the web directly to your organisation (only applies to certain products and separate charges apply).

Licensed partners

Some of our licensed partners can supply most of our products to you via the Web, offering both online ordering and fulfillment (provided that the data file size isn't too large). This is useful if you need our data only on an occasional basis.

Others can provide complete solutions, combining our data with software, hardware and consultants to install it for you. Using GIS enables you to better understand the location dimension of your data and make better decisions on the basis of your analysis.
