States of Jersey – Information

Sample data

States of Jersey logoThe States of Jersey Planning & Environment Committee is the States of Jersey government department responsible for developing and supplying all map related information to both the public and private sectors.

A number of products are available to commercial users. The current digital base map is based upon the 1:2500 scale OS map, originally captured in 1981 and tied in to a local projection (ED50 UTM 30 N). This is planned to be replaced in the near future with a fully fit for purpose 1:1000 scale map together with a 1:6250 scale ortho-rectified aerial photograph. These new products will be based upon the WGS 84 map projection and also offer both greater relative and absolute accuracy than the current mapping.

In addition to the pure mapping products, a BS7666 compliant address database is to be released in Q1 2003 and this will be initially linked by seed point to the current map base and then applied to the new mapping as polygons once this is available.
