Technical information

Landplan is our 1:10 000 scale derived map data which is the data equivalent to the published paper map service. It is achieved by combining map and database information. In doing so, we have introduced user-friendly, customised, map data with far greater definition and accuracy than ever before

Revision and survey information

Landplan production adopt a continual update revision programme that gives priority to significant areas of change, balanced by the amount of ground survey change since the area was last revised, including revision carried out using air photography. The positional accuracy programme is also asessed before implementing the production revision programme

Site-centred

It could be a postcode, a place name or a National Grid reference. You choose where you want the centre of the map

Customised mapping

Plots are available in a range of sizes and scales to meet your individual requirements, including our popular 1:10 000 (5 km by 5 km) and 1:5000 (3 km by 3 km). The data can also be rotated to follow linear features

National coverage

From major urban areas to remote rural locations, OS Landplan provides map data covering any location in Great Britain

Colour reproduction

As well as monochrome, OS Landplan can be produced in colour to give an excellent impression of the lie of the land.

A purpose-built specification

To improve definition and positional accuracy, features are edited and generalised to a purpose-built specification.

A fully edgematched database

Great Britain appears as one large, seamless map so it does not matter where you centre your map data, there are no joins

Source information

Landplan is derived from a variety of existing Ordnance Survey thematic and topographic databases: the National Topographic Database, road centreline data and height data showing contours, air and spot heights. Contours cannot be seen on screen
