Software name: TAS MasterMap Vector Tools
Software Supports: Topography Layer
Details: TAS MasterMap Vector Tools allows various usage and manipulations of OS MasterMap, including its own proprietary binary storage format which offers the benefit of both data compression for fast loading and secure storage.
The Vector Professional version allows single or multiple sets of OS MasterMap GML files to be loaded into the system. Once loaded the maps may be viewed in vector format. Loaded map(s) can be saved as a single MMB file (TAS proprietary binary compressed format) or the viewing window can be saved as a 'variably scaled' raster map. The Vector Professional allows for batch conversion of GML into MMB format, which is ideal for internet shipping to general users. The MMB file can contain an in-built time expiry feature to ensure compliance with Ordnance Survey licensing agreements; so, for example, the map will expire after a preset time period and fail to load.
The Vector View version is intended for general users and allows loading and viewing of 'shipped' MMB files (TAS proprietary binary compressed format). The user can zoom and scroll maps in true vector format, yet these files cannot be loaded by any other applications. Features of the Topography Layer can be selected/deselected, including areas, lines, text and symbols. The user is also able to make accurate measurements with the ruler tool. Additional viewing support for OS MasterMap allows the overlay of images, including aerial photograph, which can be faded up and down. The user can copy to clipboard for easy integration of all on-screen views into all other applications.
