What addresses are covered?

This new layer starts from the same extent as the current OS MasterMap Address Layer – namely, the addresses featured in Royal Mail’s Postcode Address File (PAF^® ). But it also includes alternative addresses and alias attributes not previously published.

• These addresses are available as either a postal address or a BS7666 part 3 geographically derived address, together with new data covering Objects without a postal address (OWPA) and Multi-occupancies without a postal address (MOWPA).
• Each address contains a classification as either residential or commercial premises, and wherever a trading or brand name provides details, they’re further analysed.
• Alias data is included for over 500 000 delivery points – for example, 1 Acacia Avenue, Southampton, SO16 4AB is also known as Rose Cottage, Acacia Avenue, Southampton SO16 4AB.
• Welsh alternative addresses are also included.
