The ID X-Ref function

OS MasterMap Address Layer 2 also includes a cross-reference (ID X-Ref) function, which gives you the ability to navigate between the various themes within the Address Layer (for example, the nearest addressed premises to an OWPA or the parent address premise of a MOWPA).

It allows you to reference external datasets not provided in OS MasterMap, such as premises recorded in Valuation Office Agency Non-Domestic Rates data and Council Tax data.

In this way, it provides the link between Ordnance Survey's unique identifiers - the OSAPR and address TOID and unique identifiers from third parties, such as Royal Mail's Unique Delivery Point Reference Number - UDPRN and UMRRN, and the Valuation Office Agency's Unique Address Reference Number (UARN).
