OS MasterMap - Imagery Layer - Demo and Case Study

Number One Court, Wimbledon

The Imagery Layer, combined with other Ordnance Survey digital data, adds a visual dimension that enhances information quality and makes presentation and interpretation easier to understand.

The Imagery Layer underpins applications in many different sectors, including agriculture, retail, insurance, property development, site planning, inventory management, mobile services and land management.

The Imagery Layer provides a level of detail that can clearly identify features like individual trees, streams and road markings not immediately apparent from traditional mapping data.

Argyll and Bute Council use the Imagery Layer to overcome the challenging geography of their location during their planning enquiry process.  They are able to use the imagery to reduce time spent on costly site visits and to support and justify decisions.  GIS Manager, Graham Whitefield finds a number of benefits from the Imagery Layer, “we have found so many uses, it is here to stay ”.
