When I joined OS straight from uni I was convinced that I’d only stay two years, get ‘the brand’ on my CV and move on to a larger corporate organisation. 10 years on I still feel challenged and rewarded by the work I do, and thoroughly enjoy the ‘package’ that working for OS brings.
I started my career here as a Geographic Information Developer having graduated with a BSc in Geographic Information Science. It gave me a broad knowledge of the technical aspects of OS’s products. After three years I progressed to Geographic Information Consultant – helping customers (commercial, emergency service and public sector) and partners to implement OS’s products in their applications. This role gave me one of my proudest work achievements – delivering in-situ support throughout the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
After four years in this role I decided I wanted to take more control of the products that our customers use (and love!) and joined Product Management. It let me gain a greater understanding of customer value, focus on market trends, and drive forward plans to ensure the products met customer requirements. Three years (and two promotions) in, I’m now a Senior Product Manager, responsible for setting the strategy of OS’s Location Analytics portfolio of products, with a total revenue of over £16m (and growing!).
Basically OS is a great place to work. There are many opportunities to develop yourself, your career, and your volleyball skills!
