Graduate Scheme - what to expect

Applications for our 2016 intake are closed. Keep an eye out around October time for the opportunity to apply for a September 2017 start.

From day one on our Graduate Scheme you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in what we do – we think that’s more important than sitting in training courses when you start.

We'll have learnt about you during the application process so we'll know the best team for you when you join us. And you’ll have a mentor and a buddy throughout to help you settle in.

Over the first year you’ll spend time with different teams across the business to help you understand what we do, how we do it and who our customers are. There will be projects for you to get involved in that help you apply what you’re learning so you can deliver real products to real customers, to make a real difference.

In the second year you’ll consolidate what you’ve learned and spend more time with your team, where you can apply your skills and knowledge to add real value to the business.

Where you’ll be working

You’ll love the location of our head office on the South Coast. You can enjoy the best of both worlds – working in a company of more than 1,200 people while being surrounded by the sea, beaches and the New Forest. There are good transport connections in Southampton too which is handy. Find out how to get to our head office, and if you're not from this area, check out the Discover Southampton website.

You’ll develop skills and experience in many areas and you’ll work in a modern environment where we're passionate about constantly changing, improving and enhancing what we offer. After all, one of our core values is to be ‘restless’.

You’ll find people genuinely want to help you learn and progress. You’ll also have support from your graduate peers and you can meet up regularly to share experiences.

Why not get involved in our social scene? From volleyball, cycling, running and Insanity workout classes to singing in the choir, photography and more. It’s a great way to meet new people.

What you do, matters

The work you do will help people up and down the country and even internationally. In Britain:

  • You’ll help save lives because ambulance drivers can find the quickest route to an injured person.
  • You’ll help keep our country safe when big events take place like the Olympics, because organisers, hospitals, security companies and the police all work together using our real-time data.
  • You’ll help property developers build high-quality homes on the right type of land – land that has a low flood risk and that’s near to shops and schools for people to form communities.

Countries around the world can have this set up too with their own mapping data, and many ask us for advice. We work globally, including in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dubai and Singapore.

We're pretty unique, and the best in the world at what we do. With such detail at our fingertips, the possibilities really are infinite. Let’s make a positive difference and help to shape the future of location information.

Applications for our 2017 intake will open around October - keep an eye out for more information. In the meantime stay up to date on our Twitter and Facebook Careers pages.
