Data Strategy Board report

Request for information – FOI13378

Thank you for your e-mail of 6 June 2013, requesting the following information from Ordnance Survey:

'According to the action record of a Data Strategy Board meeting held on 24 April 2013 available on GOV.UK, there exists a "recently published OS OpenData™ Evaluation Report".

'The DSB action record indicates this report has been circulated outside Ordnance Survey but I am unable to find it on the Ordnance Survey website or elsewhere online. I would be grateful for a copy of this report, including any appendices or other attachments related to the report.'

I confirm that Ordnance Survey does hold this information, however your request falls within the 'information accessible to applicant by other means' exemption under section 21 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000.

We consider this exemption applies because the report you have requested, and which is referred to in the Data Strategy Board Action Log entitled 'Assessing the Value of OS OpenData to the Economy of Great Britain synopsis', is already publicly available in the OS OpenData economic value study (PDF).

  • Failed to tell you whether or not we hold the information
  • Failed to provide the information you have requested
  • Failed to explain the reasons for refusing a request
  • Failed to correctly apply an exemption or exception

The FOI Internal Review Officer will not have been involved in the original decision. They will conduct an independent internal review and will inform you of the outcome of the review normally within 20 working days, but exceptionally within 40 working days, in line with the Information Commissioner’s guidance.

The FOI Internal Review Officer will either: uphold the original decision, provide an additional explanation of the exemption/s applied or release further information, if it is considered appropriate to do so.
