Expenditure on interpreters

Request for information – FOI14524


Thank you for your email of 30 January 2015, requesting the following information from Ordnance Survey in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act FOIA 2000:

1. How much your office/department spent on interpreters/translators in 2013/14?

2. Of that, how much was spent specifically on sign language interpreters?


I can confirm that Ordnance Survey does hold some of the information you have requested to respond to your information request. Where the information is not held, this is stated.

  1. I can confirm that Ordnance Survey spent a total of £12993.37 on interpreters/translators in the financial year 2013/14, meaning the 1 April 2013 – 31 March 2014.
  2. I can confirm that we do not hold this information. We do not hold this information because Ordnance Survey did not spend any money specifically on sign language interpreters.

The FOI Internal Review Officer will not have been involved in the original decision. They will conduct an independent internal review and will inform you of the outcome of the review normally within 20 working days, but exceptionally within 40 working days, in line with the Information Commissioner’s guidance.

The FOI Internal Review Officer will either: uphold the original decision, provide an additional explanation of the exemption/s applied or release further information, if it is considered appropriate to do so.
