Request for information – FOI16640

Thank you for your email of 5 February 2016, requesting the following information in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000:

I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information from Ordnance Survey:

  • Did Ordnance Survey pay for a NLA (Newspaper Licensing Agency) or CLA (Copyright Licensing Agency) media licence in 2013-2014?
  • If so, how much did Ordnance Survey pay for the licences in 2013-2014 (please provide the figures separately)?
  • Did Ordnance Survey pay for other media licences in 2013-2014? Please list any other media licences the council subscribed to and how much was paid for them in 2013-2014.

If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under your Section 16 obligations, as to how I can refine my request to be included in the scope of the Act.

Our response

I can confirm that Ordnance Survey does hold this information. However, your request falls within the ‘Information accessible to applicant by other means’ exemption under Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000. We consider this exemption applies as the requested information is available to the public on the expenditure items greater than £500 page of the Ordnance Survey website.

Public Interest
Section 21 is an absolute exemption and no public interest test is applicable.

I hope you find the above information is helpful to you.
