Ordnance Survey appoints Lisa Woodall as its new Chief Enterprise Architect

Ordnance Survey (OS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Woodall, as its new Chief Enterprise Architect.

26 July 2017

Lisa joins OS after more than 20 years with Zurich Insurance Company, where she was Head of Strategy, Architecture and Governance.

Lisa Woodall

At Zurich, Lisa was responsible for IT and business architecture, portfolio management and operations and technology strategic plans, and has a keen interest in the InsurTech industry and the impact of Internet of Things (IoT), Connected Autonomous Vehicles (CAV) and the Big Data agenda.

Lisa, OS’s first permanent Chief Enterprise Architect, says: “I am delighted to have joined Ordnance Survey in this new role and to have the opportunity to develop and implement an enterprise-architecture strategy. It’s thrilling to move to a new industry with its own different set of challenges.

“OS is an exciting organisation with its Geovation initiative and the ground-breaking Smart City, IoT, 5G and CAV work it does, along with a desire to support other national mapping agencies. Over the coming years my aim is to enhance OS’s digital future and to ensure the successful delivery of services and insights to our British and global customers.”

Lisa will be working directly with the executive team to advise on business alignment, enterprise architecture, information technology solutions, and the associated impact on the organisation and its stakeholders. She will lead the development and implementation of Enterprise Architecture strategy, vision and guiding principles across the entire organisation. Her appointment follows the appointment of Caroline Bellamy, as OS’s new Chief Data Officer.

OS Chief Executive, Nigel Clifford, says: “We’re very pleased Lisa has taken the step of joining our team. She brings great knowledge and experience to OS. Our data has always been of commercial significance, but with the transformative potential of digital technology and the data we now have at our disposal, it is more important and relevant than ever. Lisa’s appointment will help us achieve our business strategy. Her understanding of data, technology and emerging technologies and their associated markets is vital, as we continue to expand our expertise and underpin our relevance to government, business and communities.”
