Sprint 1 of the UK Interoperability Assessment Plugfest (UKIAP) 2013 took place at our Southampton head office on 9 December. Led by Peter Cotroneo from Ordnance Survey and Bart de Lathouwer from Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), the event included participants from Astun Technology, British Geological Survey, Cadcorp, Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, Envitia, Helyx, Intergraph, Magellium, Met Office, Pyxis, Esri UK and Snowflake Software.
The day consisted of a series of tests designed to test the interoperability of four OGC standards in various client software. These standards included Geography Markup Language (GML), Web Map Service (WMS), Web Map Tile Service (WMTS) and Web Feature Service (WFS).
The results of Sprint 1 will be published in an upcoming OGC Engineering Report and will be obfuscated to protect individual vendors. This report will be only be made available to the relevant OGC Standards Working Groups (SWGs). Between Sprint 1 and Sprint 2 on the 3rd of March 2014, the vendors and Ordnance Survey will have an opportunity to correct any issues found in the software, products and web services. The results of Sprint 2 will be published in another OGC Engineering Report and a best practice paper, both of which will be made publicly available.
