Celebrating Christmas across Great Britain – competition

FullSizeRenderWe thought we’d celebrate Christmas with a fun competition – and give you the amazing opportunity to win a limited edition OS MasterMap tie too.

There are some fabulous Christmas place names around Great Britain and we’ve put a small selection of them below. You can travel to Christmas Cross in Shropshire, but if you want to hang up your Stocking, you should head to Herefordshire and pop by Mistletoe Oak while you’re there. If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, then Snow Falls in North Yorkshire could be your best bet. You could navigate via the light of a Star (Somerset) – although you may like to use a good map instead.

But if your Christmassy travels brought you to Bethlehem (shown bottom right) – which county would you be in? Send in your answers on the blog by midday on Friday 19 December. We’ll pick a correct answer at random to win the mappy tie.

Indeed that would be Carmarthenshire, Wales.

Another lovely example of an OS map on fabric is to be found as a chair covering in Hebden Bridge town hall.

  2. North East of Llandilo, next to Tywi River.
To get there you go up Bethlehem Road which marks the North, most Western edge of the Brecon Beacons national park.

If I can’t get the tie, I will happily take Vanessa’s MasterMap jacket as a runner up prize!

  3. Thank you to everyone who entered the competition, we’re pleased to see so many of you competing for an OS MasterMap tie. The correct answer was Carmarthenshire as many of you knew. The lucky winner, randomly selected from all of the correct answers, is Greg Bullock. We’ll drop you an email shortly Greg.

      1. Hi John

I’m afraid not, this is the last of a very small number that were produced to mark the launch of OS MasterMap. We’ve never produced more for sale – but I will let the consumer team know that there is interest!

        Thanks, Gemma
