Two months on from the official launch, the Geovation Hub is going strong. The collaborative workspace is aimed at providing entrepreneurs, developers and innovators unparalleled access to geospatial data and expertise, as well as a place to exchange ideas, innovate and get inspired. Recruitment is well under way for the first Geovation Programme, and membership numbers are steadily growing too.
Did you know that in addition to offering membership, the Hub also hosts free monthly talks and events? Coming up in September are the Trend Cafe, the GeoTech masterclass, and the Hub is hosting the 100% Open Autumn Union.
Trend Café: The future of the Sharing Economy
Thursday 17 September, 8–9.15am
Join the team at the Geovation Hub for our popular Trend Café where we’ll explore trends around the sharing economy.
From renting out your spare room to selling your uneaten leftovers or playing post(wo)man for your neighbours, the sharing economy has become second nature to urbanites across the globe. We’ll be looking at the drivers behind the growth of the sharing economy, and the consumer trends helping brands unlock the creative (and commercial!) potential of these new networks.

GeoTech masterclass: Beacon Technology
Tuesday 29 September, 5–7.30pm
Ever dreamt of developing an app that makes ‘sense’ of the world around you and reacts to physical objects nearby? If the answer is yes, this GeoTech masterclass is for you.
During the 2 ½ hour session, we’ll introduce you to beacons – a relatively new area of technology that’s enabling developers/entrepreneurs/innovators to create new contextually rich mobile experiences. You’ll also have a chance to play with estimote beacons and we’ll uncover how the Ordnance Survey tech team recently used them to develop an indoor navigation app.
