GeoTech continues to grow at our Geovation Hub

Our Geovation team has four new GeoTech start-ups with new technologies and new thinking joining them on their corporate accelerator, the Geovation Programme. Since opening their doors less than two years ago, Geovation has welcomed some of the UK’s leading geospatial start-ups onto the Programme. They’ve helped businesses as varied as app makers improving the public’s fitness and access to sports facilities, to big-data platforms revolutionising drone risk and insurance.

Meet the new Geovation Programme intake

  • Passive Eye – Producers of self-powered, GPS asset trackers. These units, which never need their batteries recharging or replacing, are used to track objects on the move and as an alarm for objects that shouldn’t be moved.
  • Lie of the Land – Winner of the Geovation Underground Assets Challenge with an ambition to increase the visibility of underground assets amongst key stakeholders, increase operational efficiencies and reduce expensive damage to third party assets.
  • City Seer – A new data and interface agnostic API for real-time urban metrics. City Seer enables more informed and faster decision making for urban planners, architects and developers as they design our future cities.
  • Localistico – Digital Marketing platform that connects customers to businesses by providing business owners and chains the ability to edit their Internet profiles quick and easy. Current clients include El Corte Inglés, Foxtons, O2 and Starbucks.

About the Geovation Programme

The Geovation Programme provides up to £20,000 of grant support, on the expectation that participants dedicate a minimum of 20 hours a week working on their project. In addition to funding, the Programme provides a full curriculum of innovation modules to help participants develop their ideas. Whether they need access to experts from us at OS or the wider geospatial industry, business mentors to help make their proposals bullet proof, or senior developers who can help them build Minimum Viable Products to attract investors and early-adopters alike, Geovation is there to support them.

Head of Geovation, Alex Wrottesley, says: “The Geovation Programme offers a valuable launchpad for new GeoTech businesses. We’re unusual in that we provide funding, space and data, and access to experienced technical development capacity. It gives me a great pleasure to welcome these exciting businesses. We look forward to working closely with them over the coming months.”
