The Geovation Spring Programme is open for applications
At the start of 2018, Geovation was given internationally ‘award-winning’ status. The Geospatial World Form, in Hyderabad, India, awarded Geovation its ‘Geospatial Hub of the Year Award’, applauding that “Geovation has successfully connected individuals and SMEs and created opportunities, envisioned solutions and brought differentiation” to the UK geospatial economy.”
Speaking at the Geospatial World Forum 2018, CEO Nigel Clifford of Ordnance Survey said, “Geospatial technology is actually a fundamental purpose technology. Without it any economy cannot function efficiently”.
It’s fantastic to be recognised for such impact. Our work continues, and currently we are looking for a next cohort of location and property-based technology start-ups to support through our next accelerator Programme.
To be recognised by our international peers with an award for facilitating industry collaboration and adding value to projects critical to the success of the nation’s digital economy was pleasing and unexpected… We’re very much future-focused and are looking forward to meeting and working with next group of Programme Members, and being a part of their story and them ours. – Alex Wrottesley, Head of Geovation
There are two tracks to the Geovation Programme: GeoTech and PropTech
Our GeoTech Programme is our open call for any tech company creating location-based products and services.
If selected to join the Programme, each start-up will receive up to £20,000 in funding and a range of resources and services to help develop their businesses, including access to experienced software developers, geospatial expertise from OS, property expertise from HMLR, and mentoring to assist with product development, business proposals, investor relationships and more. Our approach is to embrace Lean and Agile methodologies, which we believe can empower your start-up to have more likely success, no matter what stage you’re at.
From the very beginning, Geovation has been amazing at introducing us to anyone relevant for our business at the time… Geovation has an amazing network of people right at their fingertips, willing to help fledgling entrepreneurs. – Richa Bhalla, CEO & Founder, Pedals
Location is at the heart of the most successful digital products and services, and land and property make the foundation of our national economy. To date, we are pleased to have supported 65 technology start-up businesses, bringing forth innovative solutions to social, environmental and economic challenges over 10 market sectors, including property, mobility and transport, infrastructure, energy, health, retail, logistics and connectivity. These companies have raised £12.7 million in investment and created 90 new jobs.
… We are delighted to continue our support for the next tranche of start-ups working on property-related services to make transactions simpler, faster and cheaper for everyone. We expect to see the benefits of this investment across legal, financial and property sectors – stimulating growth for the wider economy and bringing more opportunities to the UK. – John Abbott, Director of Digital, Data and Technology at HM Land Registry
Combining new technologies and innovative business models to address social and economic challenges lies at the heart of the Government’s modern Industrial Strategy. Geovation embodies this… With the emergence of technologies that have the potential to transform our world and the way we live and do business, I feel we’re on the verge of something special. It will be a data-driven world where place is the common factor, which is going to be core to getting value from data connecting, and Geovation is at the heart of this. – Miranda Sharp, Director of Innovation at Ordnance Survey
Applications for the next intake of the Programme opened on 29 January 2018 and close at midnight 26 February 2018. The Programme will begin 23 April 2018.
